Your Union Board met with the school board members on Monday of this week and relayed to them the problems we are having with Job titles, descriptions and pay. We also discussed job overloads and F.M.L.A. We were told that these issues would be taken back to all Board Members and the Superintendent. We are hopeful they will follow through and our issues can be resolved.
We also met with Employee Relations Director Carolyn Meredith and Mary Persley who gave us this info on F.M.L.A. and EXTRA WORK LOADS
EXTRA WORK LOADS:
Ms. Meredith informed us that your Boss should prioritize your work day so you will know what needs your upmost attention. Work your way through the list and what is not finished is left for the next day. If he/she wishes for you to get everything done in one day, he/she would have to pay you OVERTIME so you can get things finished.
F.M.L.A.
When you are out for four consecutive days you will be placed on F.M.L.A.
You DO NOT have to fill out the F.M.L.A. papers unless you WANT to apply for it.
You must work a total of 1215 hours to apply. (For 187 day employees)
You must work a total of 1250 days for all other employees.
This time starts the day you apply and goes back exactly one year.
Extra service hours/sick days do count in this calculation.
Contact Bridgett Lumpkins for more information.
There are other programs that Bridgett can assist you with if you ask. It will be handled on a case by case basis.
